Living Jewels

The Koi

--------------

Living Jewels is what the Japanese call these graceful fish.  They seem to dance slowly as they glide though the water.  Watching them instills a sense of peace and tranquility.  I am very fascinated by the hobby of keeping koi, which has been a tradition in Japan for hundreds of years.  In Japan koi are called Nishikigoi (colored carp).  I'd love to have a koi pond of my own some day.  But until then, I can enjoy koi in petz.

I breed the VPZ file.
These are my personal petz and are not for adoption.

Gender: Female
Variety:  Shiro Utsuri
Birth Date:  August 15, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 1st gen. unhexed
Origin:  Adopted at Black Mist
Ohajiki and Banshou are my foundation pair of koi.  Just first gens, but I like them.  Ohajiki is a very pretty Shiro Utsuri with lots of swirls of black and white.  Ohajiki means marbles in Japanese; I named her that because she looks marbled.

Banshou
Banshou
Formal Name:  BMC Banshou
Call Name:  Banshou
Gender: Male
Variety:  Tancho
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 1st gen. unhexed
Origin:  Adopted at Black Mist
Banshou is my foundation Tancho.  I think Tanchos are going to be my main focus, all varieties of Tancho, along with Sanke and Utsuri.  Banshou means sunset in Japanese.

Akumu
Akumu
Formal Name:  BMC Akumu
Call Name:  Akumu
Gender: Male
Variety:  Shiro Utsuri
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 4th gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
I really like Akumu's combination of spots; he's got interesting white patters.  Akumu means nightmare in Japanese.  I thought it was a cool name since he's such a dark fish with little swirls of white markings.

Buchi
Buchi
Formal Name:  BMC Buchi
Call Name:  Buchi
Gender: Male
Variety:  Aka Bekko
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Buchi is very flashy and bright red.  So far my only Bekko.  I like his little spots.  Which is why I named him Buchi, it means speckles in Japanese.

Enrei
Enrei
Formal Name:  BMC Enrei
Call Name:  Enrei
Gender: Female
Variety:  ?
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
I'm not sure what Enrei is, or even if her colors could be a real koi color.  I haven't seen a picture of a koi like her.  But I really know very little about koi varieties, I'm just learning.  But whatever she is she's pretty.  Enrei means dazzling or beauty in Japanese.

Hakei
Hakei
Formal Name:  BMC Hakei
Call Name:  Hakei
Gender: Female
Variety:  Tancho Showa
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Hakei is a really pretty Tancho Showa.  I think Tancho Showas are my favorite kind of Tancho.  I like to breed different patterns.  Hakei's red spot isn't a perfect circle, but I really like her anyway.  Hakei means ripple in Japanese.

Kahen
Kahen
Formal Name:  BMC Kahen
Call Name:  Kahen
Gender: Female
Variety:  Tancho
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 4th gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Kahen is one of my favorites.  Although I'm not sure if she would actually be considered a Tancho, or perhaps a highly faulted one, because her red mark isn't round it's just a sliver.  But I don't care I think it looks really neat.  It reminded me of a delicate little flower petal, so her name means petal in Japanese.

Karyuu
Karyuu
Formal Name:  BMC Karyuu
Call Name:  Karyuu
Gender: Male
Variety:  Shiro Utsuri
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 3rd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Karyuu is a really pretty Shiro Utsuri.  I love the flashy swirly markings of Utsuri.  They are one of my favorite types of koi.  Karyuu means swirling current in Japanese.

Kichou
Kichou
Formal Name:  BMC Kichou
Call Name:  Kichou
Gender: Male
Variety:  Tancho Sanke
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Kichou is I think my favorite Tancho Sanke.  I was really happy to breed my own Tancho Sanke.  Mixing markings with this file is so fun, they breed very well.  Since Kichou is one of my favorites (and the first one I bred), his name is the Japanese word for valuable or precious.

Kimke
Kimke
Formal Name:  BMC Kimke
Call Name:  Kimke
Gender: Female
Variety:  Shiro Utsuri
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Kimke is very pretty with her simple white markings.  I like koi with a lot of black and splashes of white, they're very flashy.  Kimke is the only one of my koi so far who doesn't have a Japanese name, her name doesn't mean anything, I made it up.

Konran
Konran
Formal Name:  BMC Konran
Call Name:  Konran
Gender: Male
Variety:  Sanke?
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
I love Konran's markings so much!  I think he's a Sanke, but I'm not sure.  Maybe he's a Showa?  I'm not very good at understanding koi varieties yet.  Konran means chaos or mayhem in Japanese.  I thought it was fitting because his markings look so wild.

Koushi
Koushi
Formal Name:  BMC Koushi
Call Name:  Koushi
Gender: Male
Variety:  Sanke?
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Koushi is a really neat Sanke.  At least I think he's a Sanke.  He could almost be a Tancho except for the red marks near his tail.  Anyway I like how he has red only on his front and back.  Koushi means crown prince in Japanese.  Impressive name for a fish eh?

Kyouki
Kyouki
Formal Name:  BMC Kyouki
Call Name:  Kyouki
Gender: Female
Variety:  Black Tancho
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Kyouki is my black Tancho!  I didn't expect to get to get a black Tancho from her breeding, but I did want one very badly cuz they are so neat looking.  Kyouki means pleasant surprise in Japanese, and that's exactly what she was.

Sake
Sake
Formal Name:  BMC Sake
Call Name:  Sake
Gender: Male
Variety:  Sanke?
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 2nd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
Sake is just a really cool fish.  Sake is of course Japanese rice wine.  Hehe, Sake is my drunken fish!

Teishi
Teishi
Formal Name:  BMC Teishi
Call Name:  Teishi
Gender: Male
Variety:  Tancho Sanke?
Birth Date:  August 16, 2005
Registration:  None
Lineage: 3rd gen. unhexed
Origin:  Bred at Black Mist
I like the way black is overlaid on Teishi's red spot.  I don't know if that's a fault or something, but I think it looks cool.  I think Teishi means conflict in Japanese, I can't remember exactly.

Hobbits do it in holes.
